Catocala texanae
French, 1902

This is a large Catocala apparently endemic to Texas and extreme southern Oklahoma. The adults are close in appearance to junctura which is sympatric and electilis which is not. The larva of texanae remains unknown but is surely a Salicaceae-feeder. Those of you in the Longhorn State -- this would be an excellent caterpillar to find and rear to an adult!
