Catocala erichi
Brower, 1976

A narrow endemic, known only from a few adjacent localities in the San Bernardino Mountains of southern California. The life history was worked out by John Johnson and Erich Walter in the late 1970s, and the only (black and white) larval image of which we are aware is reproduced here from their publication (J. Res. Lepid. 23: 231-235, 1984). Body color stated as varying from pale gray-brown to dark brown, and otherwise apparently comparable and overlapping with a number of the other western Salicaceae-feeding species.
